What are MPAN and MPRN numbers and where can you find them?

MPAN and MPRN numbers are unique reference numbers for your electricity and gas supplies.

When you move into a home after purchasing it you will likely need to provide these numbers to your new suppliers if you intend on switching suppliers.

MPAN stands for metering point administration number and is your homes reference number for the electricity supplied to your home. It may also be referred to as a ‘supply number’ or ‘S number’. It is a 13 digit reference number.

MPRN stands for meter point reference number and is your homes reference number for the gas supplied to your home. It may also be referred to as an ‘M number’. It is a 7 digit reference number.

How to find your MPAN and MPRN numbers?

You can find your MPAN on your electricity bill. If you don’t have a bill, your energy supplier or the electricity distributor in your area will be able to tell you what it is. You can find out who your electricity distributor is by contacting the National grid.

You’ll also find your MPRN on your gas bill, or you can get it by calling the National Grid on 0870 608 1524.
